This Is It – The Shrewd Manager

What is the most interesting and creative hustling idea you have ever heard of?

The day after the president was sworn in; people were already selling pictures of the president, while the presidential press service was asking people to wait for the official photos.

Did you know that hawkers used to say the same thing over and over? Nowadays there are voice recordings that play all day: “Kiatu na bei”, “Mende, kunguni, panya”.

Some creative but not so positive ones are the Westgate DVDs, and pirated copies of Nairobi Half Life which was on sale before the original DVDs.

This month, my goal is to involve as many people, as young as possible, as soon as possible. The sooner you can

What Is Looking!?

Getting to Know Jesus in the 21st Century

St. Francis in he woods...St. Francis is supposed to have said, “What we are looking for is what is looking” and Meister Eckhart wrote,

The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me; my eye and God’s eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing, one love.

That’s the mystery…  That’s why it is forbidden (and impossible) to make a graven image of God.  Nevertheless, the heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handywork (Psalm 19:1).   And we live and move and have our being in the Divine ‘image’ which is the light of the world…

headless circleTo recognize the Lord is to notice what is noticing…  The light which lights everyone who comes into the world…  The stone which the builder rejects…  The gate of the Lord…  Whosoever will may come…

Have you noticed what’s noticing?  Listen to this song by…

This Is It – The Lost Sheep

What state were you in when you first walked into Mavuno?

Some of you had your act together and some of you were in pretty bad shape. The interesting thing is that people of doubtful reputation felt they could come close to Jesus and connect with him. They were attracted to his way of doing church.

Luke 15: 1-7

What you need to do is to imagine Jesus surrounded by people who would not regularly be seen in Church.  It is almost as if you were to bump into one of the Mavuno pastors talking to such a person of the opposite sex, skimpily dressed and a little tipsy; outside a joint in this city where people do lap and pole dancing and other such activities. Perhaps some of these women’s clothing were a little revealing; perhaps holding the pastor’s hand and walking a little distance with him

There was…

This Is It – Pay The Price

Have you ever needed to radically align your life to achieve a certain goal? Getting fit, learning to cook, moving house nearer to where you work so as to spend more time with a young child. I have a friend who had an opportunity to go abroad on attachment. Some of you have used your savings to achieve a professional goal, you have even had the experience of surviving on basic food because you are living in a foreign country and cannot afford to sustain your lifestyle previously.

We understand what it means to align our lives in other areas of our lives. What does it take

Finishing Strong – Forget The Past

What a sermon!

It’s hard to believe its November already! We’re about to put 2013 to rest. In one sentence, how would you describe the year 2013?

When we began this year, we said this is our year to Occupy! Which means – to confidently take ownership in every area that God has assigned to us – whether in our faith, in our family relationships, in our health, in our finances and in our calling to impact society.  As we come towards the end of the year, it’s a good time to evaluate ourselves. How have we run our race so far? How can we finish strong, not just in the year but in every area of our life? How can we finish strong in our journey of life and of faith? That’s what we want to look at this month.

As you know, it’s far easier to start than to finish! Many of…

Five Reasons Why Men Leave Women

Just Barbara's Blog

I am writing this post as I feel it is of interest. Women always complain about
their men and well I guess we all have our reasons right but lets break this
down. If you haven’t recognized it yet, men commonly have a kind of RESISTANCE
to working through intense emotional situations in relationships. Women like words –
men like space. If you give a man space when he is annoyed and do nothing he will
respect you more for it just as you respect a man more when he communicates to you
what is wrong.

It is often these same few areas of RESISTANCE that cause conflict in relationships
and lead to men to pulling away or leaving. So lets get right to it..what are the top
5 reasons a man bolts away…like the speed of a bullet from a machine gun…

I would also like to recommend this…

Reset: Intergrity

LIFE RESET-website

What is the most affectionate thing someone did for you recently?

Today we will talk about the most talked about act of affection in the bible done by one of the most issues-ridden people in the bible –
we will also talk about a special kind of reset that prompted this lady to do what she did.

We mess up with things up at times and do some things wrong. Sometimes it is a big deal but other times it is insignificant. Sometimes it is a hiccup in our routines but it may also precipitate a crisis. The consequences then end up with us and we have to carry them sometimes throughout life.

Is there a refresh button, a new beginning, a second chance?
